Emu Point
in the Albany Region of Western Australia

Emu Point Beach, Albany Western AustraliaEmu Point is located a few kilometres north-east of Albany City Centre (see the City of Albany MAP). It is a perfect place for relaxing with a picnic and having a swim thanks to the shallow, clear waters and excellent facilities. Picnic tables, toilets, a restaurant and plenty of car parking make this beach fun for all. The cool shallow water leads gradually out to the pontoon.

Swim laps or gaze into Oyster Harbour along with the pelicans.

Emu Point Beach

There is plenty of Shade, and a triple tiered grassed area so everyone can sit comfortably with a clear view of the water. Enjoy a cuppa from the friendly cafe, and for the youngsters there is a park with swings, slide, climbing frames, etc. Foot showers for sandy feet.

Emu Point is the western side of a deep channel linking Oyster Harbour with the King George Sound. There is a boat harbour for vessels (up to 20 metres) in Oyster Harbour for you boat lovers. [DPI]

Cross the shallow peninsula along the channel (below) to another beach at the very northern end of the beautiful Middleton Beach.

Emu Point From Above

We took a fantastic Scenic Flight above Albany and were able to see the Emu Point pontoon and Albany boat sheds in Oyster Harbour.

Emu Point Beach

We like Emu Point. The whole family likes it. We think that is because there is so much to do, different areas to explore. The channels which wind through the harbour are constantly filled with boats headed in or out of the Harbour.

As you can see, the tree lined grass area offers plenty of shade yet offers direct beach access. It is possible to walk from the beach to the pontoon and only get your bottom half wet. The turquoise waters make it easy to swim.
