One of the two mountains that protects Albany is Mount Clarence. At the top, you will find the Desert Corp Memorial with views over the Princess Royal Harbour and King George Sound.
The Desert Mounted Corps Memorial is a duplicate of the original statue erected in Suez in the 1930's. With 360 degree views from the top of Mount Clarence Middleton and Emu Beaches and Emu Point can be seen in the distance. >>
Just south of Albany explore the Torndirrup National Park, where you can view the Gap and Natural Bridge rock formations.
Visit West Cape Howe National Park which contains the most southern point in Western Australia only twenty minutes to the west. |

Scenic Flights
An ideal whale to see the coast... from above! Fly above 'The Gap' and the 'Natural Bridge' formations. We enjoyed Scenic Flight above Albany

We enjoyed a good two hours exploring the top of Mount Clarence. There is a beautiful extented stairway leading up through a tunnell of bushland vegetation. If you've got binoculars, bring them.
Watch the ships at port or at rest in the harbour. Watch the sailboats as they leave the Princess Royal Harbour into the larger King George Sound.

We'd definitely recommend a visit to the top of Mount Clarence. It's easily located on the Albany Map, and easy to spot when you get here. Just keep driving up! |
