The climate of the Rainbow Coast is considered to be "the best in the world," according to those who live here. In winter, we're facing south and the sun is ideally placed to sparkle off of any raindrops headed inland to create the Rainbows from which the area gets its name.
The weather of the Rainbow Coast is most accurately described by the Noongar people of the south west.
The Noongar, having lived in the South West for centuries, have divided the year into six distinct seasons that are even more earth sensitive than our ancestors four - and more accurate for determining when you want to visit.
We have a page dedicated to the Seasons Calendar. |

The Rainbow Coast is in one of only six regions in the world that have a wet winter / dry summer climate. (They call this Mediterranean-style, but we call it home!)

The locals know it as the best weather in WA. The frequent mix of showers and sun create the magical Rainbows from which the coast gets its name.
The strength of nature is ever present, with a landscape dominated by waterways, wind and wilderness. Click to see more about the SEASONS of the Rainbow Coast.

Winter Lightning over the Wilson Inlet, Denmark
Being just the right distance 'downunder' - the Rainbow Coast is perfectly placed, and perfectly named. During the winter months (which is the rainiest time of the year for all of WA) the sun is closer to the northern horizon as we are tilted away from the sun - making rainbows all day long! |
